My life is a long walk

Is there a common pattern in everything we love?

I took this photo recently. This is a pedestrian bridge that connects two parts of my favourite walking route in Kyiv.

A long walk is one of my most listened-to songs.

I can be a bit of a runner in a heat of life.

Jill Scott helps me to slow down and walk the line of mundanity more evenly.

She sings about situations, temptations, simulations, conversation, relaxations. To my ears, her well-articulated ations fuse into a single mantra. No past. No future. A long walk is all there is.

Sometimes I hum along.
Sometimes I sing along.
Sometimes I belt my lungs out like a true soul singer along.

Did you know that singing can improve vagus nerve function — the one that affects our body from head to toe? That’s if you need a scientific reason to sing. Or you can just try. Practice makes science.

Sing and sense how that tension in your gut gets out.

It’s an act of meditation.
It’s breathing.
It’s feeling.
It’s living.

People, please— sing more!

A long walk is also my favourite movie or, more accurately, three favourite movies— the Before trilogy directed by Richard Linklater.
