All I want for chistmas is heat and light
And an iPad mini.
Our flat is cold. It’s getting a bit warmer outside — just one, two degrees above zero. This is good. Two days ago, the temperature dropped to minus ten. It was also windy. Windy makes it worse. The cold gets through slits aggressively fast. The flat gets aggressively cold.
Our radiators are cold most of the time. We live on the seventh floor and—not sure if that’s how it works — but hot water can’t reach us because we don’t have electricity. We do have hot water in the water tap, but it does seem to work differently when it comes to radiators and central heating.
We have one electric radiator. It’s not very good. It’s probably the most basic one you can get. We switch it on at night — that’s when the light comes back to us. Its abilities at heating are very limited— the radiator is too small and the flat is too cold. Every morning we wake with sore throats. Our eyes hurt too, don’t know why — something to do with the cold? Don’t worry. It gets better quickly. We gargle it away with coffee. Eyes get better too.
During the day, we take hot baths to warm up. Once or twice. I say during the day, but bathing usually happens closer to the evening. In daylight, we’re running around Kyiv, looking for a coffee shop to work from. We can’t work from home because, again, we…
