Why I’m quitting my job as a content curator at Medium

When life becomes too familiar, it’s time to make a non-impulsive impulsive decision and…quit

An impulsive decision is not always impulsive — sometimes it can build up for years before bursting into a sudden resolution.

I don’t know why now.

It is not the right time.

It is the right time.

I have to quit my job.

Yesterday, I woke up anxious to start my working day and get over it, as I always do. I went to a nearby coffee shop to work from there, as I always do. I’ve been doing that same thing for years: going to familiar, beloved places or discovering new cafes to work from across Kyiv and sometimes other cities.

Yesterday was just another such familiar day. I went to a familiar place, sat in a familiar chair, ordered a familiar americano, opened a familiar laptop, and launched all of my familiar work apps, including my familiar and endless stream of Medium articles. A wave of texts about problems and solutions crashed upon me. It’s what we do here – asking questions and trying to find answers. I swam in existential waters for an hour.

Then familiar fatigue crept in.
