You can stand up and sit somewhere else if that person doesn't deserve your respect — this is normal. Showing your disagreement with someone who says outrageous things is normal, no matter what setting you're in. You can at least tell them you don't want to have conversations with them right now.

But when you laugh with them, you enable them.

Obama laughing with Trump looks to me disgusting, but it does show that these people's principles are not based on unshakable moral beliefs, but on opportunism, and hence is adjustable. They're playing a game. Obama sat and laughed when he was the president and then Putin occupied Crimea and Obama said it was just a regional problem. We have a full-blown war now because the majority of political elites in the West didn't take it all seriously enough.

Now Trump is laughing and then he's suggesting a takeover of a foreign sovereign territory and making Canada a new state of America? What the actual fuck? Is this really time to be cordial?

Who do you think you are people?

Why do you think you have the right to have such discussions in your country and support such a president?

Why aren't you condemning this everywhere, on every platform you have — here on Medium too —instead of writing cute stories about how they have fun while sending the world to hell?

You people "listened" to Trump so much that you agreed to make him the president again.

Trying to find a common ground here will only aggravate what's coming next.
